The deadline to submit a paper to Kaleidoscope 2018: Machine Learning for a 5G future, the tenth edition of ITU’s flagship academic event, has been extended to 25 June 2018.
Kaleidoscope 2018 invites the research community to share insight into emerging applications of machine learning capable of bringing more automation and intelligence to network design, operation and management.
The conference will be held in Santa Fe, Argentina, 26-28 November, hosted by Universidad Tecnológica Nacional.
Machine learning is expected to support the smarter use of network-generated data, enabling network operators and service providers to adapt to changes in traffic patterns, security risks and user behaviour. The topic is gaining a larger share of the ITU standardization work programme in fields such as coding algorithms; data processing and management; and network management and orchestration.
This gives rise to a range of important questions:
Researchers preparing submissions to Kaleidoscope 2018 are encouraged to consult the conference’s Call for Papers.
Authors of outstanding papers will be invited to contribute to the work of the ITU Focus Group on Machine Learning for Future Networks including 5G.
All papers selected for presentation at the conference will be published in the Kaleidoscope proceedings and the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Special recognition will be afforded to the authors of the three best papers, who will also share in a prize fund of 6,000 Swiss francs.
Outstanding papers will be considered for publication in the IEEE Communications Standards Magazine. A selection of extended Kaleidoscope papers may be published in the International Journal of Technology Marketing, the International Journal of Standardization Research and the Journal of ICT Standardization.
Kaleidoscope events are peer-reviewed academic conferences that increase dialogue between academics and ICT standardization experts. The aim of the conference is to identify emerging trends in ICT research and associated implications for international standardization.
