On 21 April 2015, ITU and Informa will host a joint workshop to discuss the reality of G.fast deployments and its impact on operators’ roll-out strategies, immediately preceding the Informa Fixed Access Networks Summit on 22-23 April 2015.
This joint workshop aims to consider all aspects of G.fast deployment through case studies, panel discussions and small group discussions, enabling attendees to obtain tools for more effective G.fast deployment and maximise its features.
The first Overview Session will explore the relationship between FTTdp and G.fast, their main features and design requirements. The workshop will hear the latest updates on progress in the standardization process from a number of representatives of ITU-T Study Group 15, including timings of the first G.fast deployments. Attendees will then benefit from a series of brief but focused ‘Lightning Talks’ from different operators, who will update participants on their deployment plans and experiences, present their trial results and real-life cases. A ‘Migration Strategies’ session will hear how G.fast is likely to change FTTH, DSL and hybrid fibre VDSL2, FTTdp and FTTN roll-out strategies. The Next-Generation Regulation Session will feature speakers from the UK regulator, OFCOM, and the Broadband Forum, to examine the key regulatory aspects for pushing fibre further into the network, as well as the regulatory implications of network upgrades and deployment. In the afternoon Panel Discussion on Business Case and Forecasts for G.fast, participants will hear directly from a panel of leading analysts who will share their latest analysis and insights and fine-tune their predictions in relation to plans for deployment.
Don’t miss out on this valuable opportunity to hear from and network with experts; there are nearly 150 participants already registered to attend the Fixed Access Networks Summit, and we have great operator interest in the G.fast Focus day with companies such as Deutsche Telekom and Liberty Global already registered to attend.
If you are an operator and would like to share your own G.fast findings, make sure that you apply to join the ‘Lightning Talks’ by Wednesday 15 April 2015.
