Girls in ICT Day events expand horizons!

By ITU News

Girls in ICT Day events are expanding horizons by inspiring the next generation of girls to learn more about information and communication technologies (ICTs).

Events are reaching farther than ever, inspiring girls with fun-filled days focused on skills building, mentoring and hands-on introductions into the exciting world of technology.

To date, over 357 000 girls and young women have taken part in more than 11 100 celebrations in 171 countries worldwide.

Today, there are hundreds of events happening around the globe to encourage the next generation of innovators in ICT. ITU’s network of 13 Regional and Area Offices around the world is organizing events, partnering with other UN agencies, hosting competitions and supporting regional partners.

The ITU Regional Office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia is holding a global celebration at the African Union headquarters.
