Nominate candidates for the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) process continues to grow and develop towards the WSIS Forum 2018, which will be held in Geneva, Switzerland from 19-23 March 2018. The annual Forum serves as a platform to discuss how information and communication technologies (ICTs) can accelerate progress on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

The Forum — which is hosted by the ITU and co-organized by ITU, UNESCO, UNCTAD and UNDP — provides an opportunity to exchange information and share best practices. It represents the world’s largest annual gathering of the ‘ICT for development’ community.

The annual WSIS Prizes have emerged as a popular and integral part of the WSIS stocktaking process, because they recognize individuals, governments, civil society, local, regional and international agencies, research institutions and private-sector companies for their success in leveraging the power of ICTs as an enabler of development.

Submit your applications before 2 January

Applications to the WSIS Prizes 2018 are currently being accepted — and with the deadline for submission fast approaching, all WSIS stakeholders are invited to contribute to the WSIS Prizes contest in 2018 by submitting ICT projects at www.wsis.org/prizes.

The ITU Official Call for Submissions in all UN languages are available here [AR] – [ZH] – [EN] – [FR] – [RU] – [ES]

All Stakeholders are invited to submit entries online by 2 January 2018.

All nominated projects for the WSIS Prizes 2018 will be published in the WSIS Stocktaking 2018 publications and promoted via communication channels throughout 2018.

Project details will be reviewed by hundreds of thousands online voters. In 2017, 1.1 million votes were cast.

Projects recognized by the online voting community as WSIS Prizes 2018 Winners and Champions will benefit from various opportunities for visibility at the WSIS Forum 2018 (19-23 March, Geneva). These include presence at the official Prize Ceremony during the High Level Opening Segment and showcasing the awarded project either in a Winners exhibition or as panelist at one of 200 interactive sessions and workshops. You may also request an exhibition booth free of charge.
